
Clay Miller
Clayton “Clay” Miller is a seasoned private equity professional, investor, and corporate attorney with over 30 years of experience in leveraged buyouts, growth equity, and M&A. He currently serves as a Lecturer of Finance at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, where he teaches Private Equity and shares deep insights from his industry leadership roles.
Clay is a Co-Founder and Partner at Stone Arch Capital, a Minneapolis-based private equity firm that invests in lower middle-market companies across North America. At Stone Arch, he leads deal sourcing, due diligence, portfolio management, and exit strategies. His investment approach emphasizes long-term value creation through strategic growth, operational improvement, and alignment with management teams.
Prior to founding Stone Arch, Clay was a Managing Partner at Churchill Equity Partners, and earlier, an investment professional at SCF Partners, focusing on the energy services sector. He began his career as a corporate M&A attorney at Shearman & Sterling LLP in New York and London, advising multinational clients on complex cross-border transactions.
Clay holds a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law (cum laude), an MBA from Harvard Business School (with honors), and a B.A. from the University of Michigan.
