
Parijat Chakrabarti
Parijat Chakrabarti holds a PhD in Sociology from Princeton University. He is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Erb Institute for Global Sustainable Enterprise at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
His work centers on the intersection of economic sociology and anthropology, science and technology studies, and human-environment interaction. Dr. Chakrabarti's research specifically focuses on how innovation ecosystems and market institutions can be designed to sustain long-term social and ecological well-being. He has applied these questions to food systems in East Africa, particularly as the region faces the challenges of climate change, globalization, and rapid technology adoption.
Before his doctoral studies, he earned a BA in Economics and Sociology from UC Berkeley. His diverse experiences include working at a research unit at ETH Zürich and on a dairy farm in Argentina. He has also provided consulting and advisory services for various development organizations, including the World Bank.
